Accessing Data and Data Manager Assistance

Once your request has been through the approval process, you will receive an email including, if requested, your logon details.

There are three ways, outlined below, you can access data for your project.

If you require a Web Report for Audit or standard reporting click here.

If you are unsure of the best method please contact BioGrid to discuss your options.

  1. Use BioGrid tools
    Your logon gives you access to querying, analysis and reporting tools. Find out more about how to logon and use the tools.

    BioGrid operates training sessions which provide instruction in the use of the tools. Find out more about BioGrid training.
  2. Data extract
    If you would prefer to perform the analysis on data in a spreadsheet format, a BioGrid Data Manager can extract the required data from the database/s on your behalf.

    The reasons for requesting data in this format may be:
    1. The databases you require access to have many tables and fields;
    2. The tables have complex relationships;
    3. You do not have time;
    4. You do not wish to understand the back end of the database and just want to focus on your research;
    5. You have other analysis tools you prefer to use;

    Click here to download the data extraction request form and email to enquiries@biogrid.org.au.

    View the available tables and fields here.

    You will be contacted by a BioGrid staff member after your application has been received to discuss your request and issue a quote for your consideration.
  3. Data analysis
    You may prefer a BioGrid Data Manager to perform the analysis on your behalf.

    The reasons for requesting data analysis may be:
    1. You have not used any analysis tools before;
    2. You are unsure what statistical tests to use;
    3. The databases you require access to have many tables and fields;
    4. The tables have complex relationships;
    5. You do not have time;

    Click here to download the data analysis request form and send it to enquiries@biogrid.org.au.

    In most instances it is useful for you to spend some time with the BioGrid Data Manager to explain your project and analysis required, this will ensure we have a good understanding of your requirements and can quote the work accurately. You will be contacted by a BioGrid staff member after your application has been received to discuss your request and issue a quote for your consideration.

    View the available tables and fields here.

Web Reports for Audit and Standard Reporting

BioGrid can generate reports which automatically refresh with the latest data when opened. These reports can be used for:

  • Audit purposes (i.e. surgical)
  • Monitor data/patient accumulation to meet targets
  • Management reporting
  • Identification of outliers in data

Web reports can accommodate limited user changes, for example date range of data, split graph bars by a category such as gender. See the Analysis Tools page for more information.

For BioGrid to create a web report for you download the Web Report request form and read the Information sheet. Send the request form to enquiries@biogrid.org.au. A BioGrid staff member will then contact you to discuss your request and issue a quote for your consideration.

BioGrid operates training sessions which provide instruction in the use of the tools, including Web Report Studio.
