Role: Operations Manager
You may never have heard of Domenic, who has been Operations Manager at BioGrid for five years, supporting the organisation’s CEO with a number of critical functions.
However, he provides essential operational support to the whole organisation, ensuring it runs smoothly and freeing the leadership team of this lean and dynamic small organisation for their key focus areas.
The functions that Domenic supports include finance (accounts payable and receivable), payroll, recruitment, contract management, and working with the human resources (HR) team at Melbourne Health (who provide BioGrid’s HR policies and processes).
Domenic is also one of the first faces that new team members see, as he is responsible for onboarding after assisting with the recruitment process, helping team leaders ensure new employees have everything they need.
As part of his corporate administrative role, Domenic also organises member committee meetings, and team events. All of this means he frees up the CEO and leadership team to focus on strategy and service delivery, as well as business development.
Who is Domenic?
With a degree in medical laboratory science and a lengthy background managing pathology laboratories in both public and private hospital settings, Domenic is well versed in the challenges of managing operations in the medical field.
Domenic first worked in this role early in his career, training at St Vincent’s hospital in Melbourne then moving to the Alfred Hospital.
He then transitioned into laboratory management and after completing an advanced certificate in business administration and a graduate diploma in organisational behaviour, entered operations and executive management. This included managing Dorevitch Pathology’s regional laboratories.
Domenic’s extensive corporate experience in technical environments means he’s able to advise and support BioGrid’s CEO on a range of operational activities, as well as keeping a close eye on team and employee wellbeing.
