Researchers at BioGrid Australia member and/or collaborator institutions may submit new or amended applications requesting access to data connected to BioGrid using our online application system.
Authorised researchers can explore and visualise data on specified connected data utilising a web interface.
Authorised researchers can utilise this comprehensive data and statistical analysis application to analyse, explore and visualise connected datasets for approved audit and research projects.
BioGrid is both a data connectivity resource and a research service.
BioGrid brings together data that is otherwise challenging to connect to. And then it also makes the available data more meaningful by being the data governance enabler for researchers.
Through BioGrid, researchers and industry have access to the patient data resources of 41 (and growing) member health services, universities and research institutes across Australia. Millions of clinical, bio-specimen, genetic and imaging data are available from multiple sites, and across a range of diseases. All protected and ethically controlled to ensure both patient privacy and secure access.
Amongst the biggest problems that investigators face are data collection, data storage, data analysis, statistical analysis of data. A second order of problems is concerned with ethics and privacy and the amazing thing about BioGrid is that it addresses all those things.

Through BioGrid, both researchers and industry have access to the patient data resources of 41 (and growing) member health services, universities and research institutes across Australia. Literally millions of clinical, bio-specimen, genetic and imaging data are available.
BioGrid operates a federated national data linkage platform on behalf of its member collaborators - health services, universities and research institutes that utilise this trusted, virtual, real-time data linkage platform to conduct collaborative, multi-site research.
BioGrid is the only collaboration network in Australia with the legal and ethical framework to enable the sharing of real-time hospital and clinic based health and medical data for research.
Removing barriers to research and improved health outcomes are, of course, the ultimate goals of what we set out to achieve. Whether that takes the form of supporting applications for TGA approval; providing relevant data for publishing; advancing research through collaboration; or simply being able to cross reference patient data for diagnostic purposes, BioGrid gives you access to a robust quantity of data and the tools to analyse and present it in a professional manner.
Starting in 2003, successive governments have had the foresight to invest in BioGrid to help build it into the robust resource it has become. That investment has helped create a user friendly combination of technology, collaboration and ethics approval processes for data sharing, which exists nowhere else in the world.
Today, BioGrid is sustained by its membership and fee for service work for government, industry and investigators.
BioGrid is more than just a data connectivity platform. Our team are experts in guiding researchers through the process of gathering, analysing and publishing relevant data. We’re often able to suggest opportunities and possibilities you may not have thought of, or known existed.
BioGrid Australia also offers user training, and can provide data analysis services for your project.
